Are you participating in the mini-challenges? As most of you know, this week our contest is focused on single e-markets. We are fully aware that it's not always easy to find the perfect niche for a specific country, hence why we have decided to give you a few tips.
- You are targeting one of the most passionate, loyal people when it comes to food, regional identities and... coffee.
- It could sound unreal but most of italians do not own a credit card! Therefore, you should underline in your campaign description that payment via Paypal is available (and it’s easy, fast and secure).
- Football remains the most followed and practiced sport in Italy. Do not forget that we currently are in the middle of the italian league! Naples or Juventus? :)
- When targeting the UK do not forget that people living in Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland and England all speak (British) English but they have their own traditions, dialects, cultures and indeed, regional pride.
- Tea has always been the nation’s favourite drink. Indeed, as many as 165 million cups of tea are consumed every day!
- England brought to life soccer, rugby and polo.
- Partying is a safe bet when it comes to interests in Spain. With a funky and funny design about "la fiesta", you can definitely conquer your Spanish customers. And did you know that Spain is the biggest consumer of Gin in the world?
- Bear in mind that the Basque Country and Catalona have a strong regional identity and folklore. Indeed, good jokes about the Basques work really well.
- Nonetheless, Spain is famous for its glorious beaches, fantastic architecture, stunning art, delicious food (tapas!). However, nothing captures the essence of Spain's living culture more than its very many festivals. Just to mention a few: the Pamplona running with bulls, the religious festival such as Semana Santa (Easter), Feria de Agosto in Malaga and the Tomato Fight.
- Maybe skiing is not the best niche. Infact, Denmark doesn't have mountains.
- We are talking about really polite and politically-correct people, so we strongly suggest that you avoid bad jokes about political and social issues. :)
- Despite the cold temperatures, 1 in 2 people cycle to work everyday. Cycling is definitely a passionate (and sporty) niche!
- Well, gambling and poker are two perfect niche. Thus, Aussie has the highest rate of gambling in the world with over 80 percent of Australian adults engaging in gambling of some kind and 20 percent of the pokie machines in the world are found in Australia.
- "Banana benders" is the nickname for Australians from Queensland. What about a "crow eater"? He/she is someone from the South!
- Of course, English is the official language. However, keep in mind some essential translations: "pants" means "trousers", an Englishman is a "Pommie", barbie" is "barbecue" (and it's really popular in Australia), and when you need a beer you have to order a "coldie"! Furthermore, when an Aussie tells you "let's meet up at the hotel", well... in most cases, it's just a bar.
