As the weather is getting more and more pleasant in most of our markets, it means that it is time for a lot of exciting celebrations and events. The month of May is expected to be the peak of sales in the first half of the year. So brace yourself!
The highlight of this month is definitely Mother’s day - one of the most commercialised celebrations, especially for online retailers. In the United States alone, about $20 billion was spent on Mother’s Day gifting, among which 29% was purchased online. It means an approximate 15% increase in year-over-year web sales, according to an IBM Digital Analytics Benchmark report. Though many countries adopted the US’s holiday to celebrate on the second Sunday of May, other countries have their own traditional days to honour the Mothers. In the northern hemisphere, winter sports are now temporarily replaced by summer hobbies. This month marks the end of the season of major European sport leagues and the fans are crazier than ever.
